The sun today (24 Dec) in white light:
A Coronal Mass Ejection from one of these sunspots may hit Earth on Christmas day.
This image was taken with an Orion 80mmED f/7.5 refractor with a Lunt solar wedge and a ND-0.6 filter. (Don't aim your scope at the sun unless you absolutely know what you are doing. Bad things can happen if you don't.)
Mars is high in the east late at night and is currently near M44, the "Beehive Cluster". This image was obtained last night (23 Dec) around 11:30 pm with an Olympus 75mm f/1.8 lens:
